ABOUT ME

I was born 1959 in a small village Dumbravita in Karpaten Transylvania. My talent was evident very early. I attended  music high school in Brasov and after completed a classical study at Bucharest’s music academy. I began to love the spontaneity of music and formed Opus 4 with Mircea Tiberian, the pianist and the saxophonist Dan Mandrila. This band rose quickly to become the most popular jazz group in the country durring the years. of 80’s .After many appearances in the country and numerous invitations, i decided to emigrate in the west in 1989. I attended jazz festivals in East Berlin and Warsaw. I had the opportunity to play together in Vienna with both native and international size players Leo Wright, Idris Mohammed, Jim Pepper and Harry Sokal were some of the type’s farmers. Christian Muthspiel was also there u.v.a. I finally picked up my first plate at the west he/it. 1992 was the year of his/its first CD. It was below the title “Black Sea”. He/it has been publishing interesting books and CDs since then. Also, bulk’s American musicians, such as Graham Haynes participated Lonnie Plaxico and Ed Schuller, Peter Perfido, and the pianist u.a. Waldron Times. Much was replaced by young Nicola Simion, an early deceased saxophonist, in his/its quartet. The two have been collaborating musically ever since. This culminated in “The Big Rochade”, a Duo-CD, and many appearances in 1998. Paint Waldron values above all its/its flexibility, perceptiveness, and ethnic Background at Nicola Simion. He/it also had a great way companion in Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko. They recorded many high-interesting receptions together. Gunther Schuller, the famous American stream-komponist, was so charmed by Nicola’s music that he/it published Recordings of an absorption Simions under his/its American label GM and “The Music of Jim Pepper” as a soloist in his/its selected project. Nicola Simion is also a composer of contemporary music. He/it was awarded the Kornerpreis 1995 for order work in the Austrian culture ministry. Blaserensembles, punk and saxophone ensembles were also included in the order works. The “Canzonieri Sacrale”, a collection of motives derived from sacral chants around the globe for big orchestra and jazz combination, was created in 1998. It was uraufgefuhrt at Vienna’s oldest church, Ruprecht. Two years later, a revised and expanded version of Austrian radio in the ORF culture house was presented. A number of cheered performances were also held in Kronstadt (Brasov), in 2001. He/it had more and more commitments in Germany in the latter 90er years. In 1997, it finally settled down in Germany. He/it spent the next years working “Balkans” on a new jazz project with native musicians. This last prank by Nicola Simions is a conscious on the roots music of his/its homeland. “Lullabies
